Wonders of Wapato Hills

  • Wapato Hills Park 6231 South Wapato Street Tacoma, WA, 98409 United States (map)

We drive on I5 past Wapato Hills Park all the time, but have you ever explored the top? In this outdoor presentation with local botanist, Dr. Romey Haberle, we’ll walk up the trail to the summit of Wapato Hills. We’ll learn about the unique aspen and Oregon ash communities, about prairie and woodland plants, and other botanical treasures. Expect to find surprises along the way!

Meeting Point: Corner of Wapato St and S 64TH Street entrance (by the playground).

We’ll be walking 2-4 miles on fairly steep trail ground and pavement. The presentation will take up to 2 hours, depending on the group's pace.

Please dress comfortably and according to the weather forecast. Bring sun and rain protection, a water bottle, and anything else you need to stay focused and happy.

The event is capped at 20 to make sure everyone can hear and engage with Dr. Haberle throughout the walk. Please let us know you’re coming by registering! Thank you!

This event is possible thanks to Tacoma Creates.
