Tree Failure: An Introduction to Arboreal Biomechanics

Trees provide many benefits to our communities but they also present risk. Understanding what makes a tree more likely to fail helps us figure out how we can reduce the likelihood of failure through arboricultural practices like pruning and installing support systems. In this webinar, we will learn the basic physics behind failure and how to maintain trees to minimize their likelihood of failure.

Brian Kane is Massachusetts Arborists Association Professor of Arboriculture at UMass-Amherst. He started dragging brush in 1989 and has been an ISA Certified Arborist since 1997. Dr. Kane studies tree risk assessment and tree worker safety; he has published many articles and given many presentations around the world on the topics.

Please make sure to log on 15 minutes prior to the event if you are attending to receive ISA CEUs.

Valid ISA Certification Number is required to receive ISA CEUs for this event.
