Join us for an early fall evening walk and explore the Wapato Hills Open Space with certified arborist Michael Yadrick. He will share about tree projects that have taken place in Wapato Hills, and upcoming plans and permits for critical areas restoration. During our time together, we’ll get to appreciate the trees Tacoma Tree Foundation has been watering and caring for over the past two summers.
Meeting Point: Corner of Wapato St and S 64TH Street entrance (by the playground).
This event is possible thanks to Tacoma Creates.

Speaker Bio
Michael Yadrick
Michael Yadrick lives in South Tacoma on the traditional lands of the Puyallup Tribe. He tries to bring love, compassion, and harm reduction into the sometimes very serious world of ecological restoration - while gently (and not so gently) unsettling colonial conservation practices. Michael is a Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner and an ISA Certified Arborist, a former Tacoma Tree Foundation board member, and a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Bolivia, 2002–2004) who also served with AmeriCorps in the late 1900s. By day, he works as a Restoration Ecologist with the City of Tacoma’s Environmental Services Department supporting the Open Space Program. And by long academic nights past, he earned degrees from The Evergreen State College, American University and Universidad para la Paz in Costa Rica.
