Children explore the topics of trees, shade, and shadows through hands-on, open-ended materials. Provoking thought through art and sensory play stations, explorers will create their own city blocks and forests with playdough and loose parts, explore shadow and light with building materials and different light sources, create their own “shade tree” to take home with natural materials and air-dry clay, and add to a collaborative tree process art piece!
This event is capped at 25 and registration is required.

Amanda Pedrelli
Education has been both my career and my passion throughout my adult life. Grounded in a whole-child, child-centered philosophy and a deep desire to cultivate connection and wonder about the natural world.
My fascination with the science of learning led me to earn a BA with a focus on Bilingual Early Childhood Education from The Evergreen State College and inspired travels to Italy and New Zealand, where I explored child-centered educational approaches. These experiences have shaped my practice, which honors open-ended art, schematic play, family connection, social-emotional development, mutual respect for children, and the powerful role of the classroom environment in supporting learning and growth.
Through my business, Playful Artist Studios, I enjoy creating art and sensory experiences that nurture a sense of freedom and self-expression in young children - supporting them as they begin to develop their own creative identities and understanding of the world.
