Deciduous, Dormant, Dead, or Deadly? - Learning to Identify Trees in Winter

  • Hilltop Heritage Middle School 602 North Sprague Avenue Tacoma, Washington, 98403 United States (map)

If you’ve ever wondered what trees get up to once the days are shorter, join us for this fall Nature Explorers walk! Local arborist Shauna Willett will teach us how to identify different evergreens and deciduous tree species when they have lost their leaves. As we learn tree ID, we’ll also learn how to tell the difference between trees that are deciduous, dormant, dead, or deadly! This event is designed for a middle-school age audience and their families, however younger or older kids are welcome as well!

A take-home activity will be provided to all registered attendees for the learning and fun to continue after the walk ends!

Please dress comfortably and according to the weather forecast. Bring sun and rain protection, a water bottle, and anything else you need to stay focused and happy.

We hold all events rain or shine. But we do cancel if the weather poses any risk. If in doubt, please check our socials and website for updates.
