Green Blocks: Hilltop Tree Share

  • TUPAC Parking Lot 1105 Martin Luther King Junior Way Tacoma, Washington, 98405 United States (map)

For our final project year, residents in the Project Boundary can visit our Fall Tree Share to take home and plant a street tree for their right-of-way planting strip. Assistance with tree selection, planting guidelines, and tree care will be provided.

Before adopting a tree, here are a few things to consider!

  • Is there space to plant in your right-of-way strip? (This is the strip next to the sidewalk that meets your property line)

    • The area should be:

      • 4 feet or wider to safely plant

      • Clear of other trees or obstacles (fire hydrant, utility pole, cars)

  • Are you able to take home a tree and plant it yourself?

    • We will provide planting guidelines, tree materials, tree care resources, and guidance on how to call utilities

  • Once planted, are you able to water it weekly in the summer for the first 3 years?

If you’re not sure if you can plant, feel free to bring a picture or stop by and tell us about your space! Information like right-of-way size, powerlines, and other trees can be helpful when finding the right tree for your home.
