For PNW Climate Week, we are gathering at Wapato Hills to learn about how the heat is affecting South Tacoma and what you can do to get involved. On Saturday July 19th, bring your friends and family to learn about sustainable volunteering opportunities in Tacoma and how we can make a difference together. We are partnering with sustainable organizations in Tacoma to provide information and climate resources to South Tacoma residents. These informational tables are open to walk participants and the general public.
At 11am, join us for a walk through the park where we will discuss urban heat islands, tree benefits, and sustainability work throughout Tacoma. We will walk through the preserved nature space of the park and look over South Tacoma, taking a new perspective on the climate challenges we are facing. Be prepared to walk a mile on an uneven trail with 100ft of elevation change. Wear appropriate clothes and shoes for walking in Washington summer weather.
You can walk with us or stay at the Skip and Laura Vaughn playground to learn more about our partners’ work.
